Warsaw, Vienna and a Manor in Sri Lanka

This issue of The Gallivanter’s Guide takes us from Raffles Europejski Warsaw to Mandarin Oriental Vienna and Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna, before ending on Sri Lanka’s southern coast at Maya Tangalle.

Warsaw is a city I have always found fascinating, but until now it had not had the kind of high-end hotel name that made me plan a dedicated return. Vienna, meanwhile, was not a city I expected to revisit quite so soon, as we had covered it only a couple of years ago. But with Mandarin Oriental opening and Anantara taking over Palais Hansen, there was reason to go back.

Sri Lanka was different. I returned to the island on holiday, with no intention of writing about it again so soon after our previous issue. I was on holiday, after all. Maya Tangalle, a small manor on the southern coast, changed the shape of the issue.
